Faith Friday

I'm not a very good 'teacher' and that's not my point in this, rather just giving you some points to ponder in the word.

I'm attempting to read through the bible cover to cover. I started on Monday, so this is what I learned then. I won't post everything I read throughout but rather just where I am at the moment.

My hope is that it will encourage you if you know Jesus or realize how big He is and your need for him if you don't...

Genesis 1-4

Reading the first chapter I am so amazed at my creator and realize my strong need to create myself. Where does that come from in me? HIM! Just the first couple of verses completely amaze me.
He had a white canvas, then made a master piece.

As the days are described, in my simple mind- I think-he paints one stroke- pieces together a dress- knits part of a hat- cuts out pieces to a paper project(aligning but not gluing) and take a step back and looks at it...

Man that's good... We do that, don't we? Half the fun spent creating is looking at the work we've created and Enjoying it.

Another thing that stands out to me is 2:15.
"the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it an keep it"
This is BEFORE the fall y'all! I'd never seen that before. I always thought that man having to work was a result of sin, but it was his plan all along! How sweet! He wants us to get the most out of life...
Make.
Do.
Work with our hands! Awesome!

I see another beauty in 3:16. God shares an important truth that is reigning hard today... The Lord presents this struggle within marriage that is still going strong.
I see it in the increase of divorce rates.
I see it in the way woman speak about their husbands.
I see it in my own home.

The verse that stuck out to me the most though, when reading through chapters 1-4, was 3:21.
"The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them." Awe.
This is beautiful.
I see Jesus here.
A sacrifice was made-blood was shed-because of man's sin.  WOW!
What a sweet picture of the gospel right here in Genesis.
